The death occurred peacefully at her home on Monday, in her 108th year, of Mrs Mary Quinn (née Larkin), Knockroe, Castlerea. At that time she told her good friend Danny Burke about the times growing up on the family farm at Guilka, Ballymoe. There was no tar on the roads in those days and she often got blisters on her toes and heels. She would bring her lunch and bottle of milk to school every day. There was one girl who never had a lunch and Mary would give her, her lunch and drink the bottle of milk herself.
